Helping Your Dog Adjust to a Move

Strong Fences Make Safe DogsMoving can be a bit overwhelming for people and they know exactly what is going on. For the family dog, a move can be downright scary. To help your dog adjust to all the changes, you should:
* Be sure to take familiar toys, beds and dishes to the new home. This is not the right time to get new things for your pet.
* Use a crate to transport your pet to the new location safely. Leave the crate set up in case your dog wants to hide in its “cave” until it adjusts a bit to the move.
* Never let your dog into an unfenced area without a leash, even if it is usually good about running out into the yard and then right back into the house without straying.
