The Standard Poodle may look fluffy and silly, but this breed is actually very hardworking and intelligent. Standard Poodles were originally used to retrieve game for hunters. However, these dogs were so smart and loyal that they quickly became popular with pet owners. Now, few Standards are hunting dogs, but they often complete in obedience and agility trials. If you want a big dog that is good with children and other pets, easy to train and very affectionate, the Standard Poodle is a perfect fit.
Just be prepared to spend several hours a week on grooming. If you take your Standard to a professional groomer, you will probably pay $50-75 per session, since this breed has a coat that is time consuming to maintain.

People who love to exercise will enjoy these dogs the most. Dalmations were actually bred as carriage dogs, so running is in their blood. Despite their stubbornness, they are responsive to training and carry a strong desire to please. They will require a much slower, firm approach to training. You will have to be a little more forceful because of their excitability and nervousness. When training, be sure to use a harness, because Dalmatians have very sensitive necks.

The Doberman Pinscher is endowed to with a tremendous willingness to please. Dobermans make formidable adversaries as guard dogs but also actually do very well with children if they are not trained to be aggressive.

Its important to know your Doberman’s temperament. If he is not afraid of loud noises, crowded areas, or other people, then he can be trained and dealt with the same way as most other breeds. If you do have an even tempered Doberman than it is important not to be rough or impatient. These dogs are quick to learn and will understand in five minutes what other breeds might take 30 to 40 minutes to understand. The Doberman is an ideal candidate for Clicker Training.

It is unwise to yell at this breed. They are really sensitive dogs and a simple command shouted will sound like scolding to the animal. Do not display fear in front of this one, he will react to it.

These dogs excel at Clicker Training. Golden Retrievers have a tendency to disobey shortly after they obey. If a dog is allowed to get away with this behavior, he will become less and less responsive.

German Shepherd: There is no dog more willing to learn and respond to their masters than the German shepherd. This particular breed of canine will have lots of chewing and digging problems if not corrected at an early age. Give them every chance to learn, reward them with praise, make training a lot of fun, and you should have no problem with this breed.
