Silly Dog Sunday - Packing it Up
09/24/2007
This little dog obviously loves packing supplies. Think he might be interested in a part time job? I have two family members packing and unpacking stuff right now and they could both use a hand!

You were expecting a punch line, right? No joke. My Sophie is allergic to the cat. She gets watery eyes and sneezes soon after that cat gets up on the bed, itches like mad and has a new bald spot. Sooo, we went back to the vet today to ask if that was possible and it is. Since Sophie started these symptoms right when the cat decided to move indoors and sleep with us at night, she thought it was pretty likely that Sophie is allergic to the cat.
We’re going to try a few things, including Benadryl for Sophie and frequent grooming for the cat. (Seriously, you can give dogs Benadryl. Don’t do it without consulting your vet and getting dosage instructions, though.) If these things don’t work, I guess the kitty gets locked out of the bedroom.
Sophie adores her and didn’t seem to be bothered when they played outside. I guess containing all of that saliva and dander in one room for 8 hours at night is what pushes the allergy reactions over the edge.
a big stick. Although with those big ears, this dog could probably forget walking all together and take to the air.
But look at those eyes. He looks thrilled all to pieces, doesn’t he?

Bobbi says:
I have two male English Buklldogs, one is 19months neutered. the other is 9months not neutered.
The older of the two has been attacking the other, I tried the comamd NO loudly, my husband yells NO, I have sprayed water on them. this has no effect. I’m calling my Vet today. I’m affraid one of them is going to get seriously hurt. The 9month old is not backing down, and like I said the older one always just runs over to him and attacks.
Bobbi,
How recently did you get your second dog? If he grew up from puppyhood in your home, it is going to be harder to pinpoint the problem. Think about anything that has changed recently - a child returning to school and spending less time with her buddy, a new job, different sleeping arrangements, etc. It may also be as simple as the fact that the 9 month old dog seems like a big threat since he isn’t neutered.
Calling your vet is a good idea, since he may notice a physical problem that is causing the change in your dog’s behavior. If your dog is healthy, your vet can probably provide you with a referral to a local animal behaviorist.
NBC reported tonight that two different studies showed that rats developed tumors around microchips. Since many dog owners microchip their dogs to help find them if they are ever lost, this is a big concern for our canine pals. NBC did say that the study is inconclusive for dogs, since rats are so much smaller. Hopefully, there will be more news about this soon.
Look at the size of those ears! I’m sure he will grow into them eventually, but until then he will look a bit comical!
This little guy is ready to take on any ball boy this year. I don’t know how excited the tennis stars would be about using any of the tennis balls he retrieves, though… They look like they’d be a bit slobbery. Seriously, how does a dog manage to retrieve that third ball without dropping the other ones when he opens his mouth?
This is so cute - a little Yorkie that does dog tricks when you type in the command. I got him to fetch, speak, roll over, beg and play dead. The kids absolutely loved it and sat there having the virtual dog do tricks while their real dogs curled up beside them on the sofa…
